Okotoks' premier Singles Dart League.
YOUR schedule, OUR game.
Okotoks 501 is structured as a collection of "leagues", round robin format to determine league placing(s) and the completion of the regular season.
Preference to play in-person; Meet at one of Okotoks’ or Calgary's fine establishments; Big Beaver, RFG, Hubtown, Elks, Railyard – online or at home is ok too, as long as agreed between opponents.
The top X* from each league will progress to single elimination knock-out, to determine an overall "Season" winner.
*Post season progression may vary season to season, dependent on player count.
All players will be assigned game(s) per game week ("GW") - minimum one game per week. If required due to player count, players may have a "double" week, with two games to play. In VERY rare circumstances, there may be three games in a GW assigned.
All players will be assigned to a "league" before commencement of a season.
Player league assignments will be determined by a random draw - which may consist of either; an online number generator or physical 'names out of a hat'.
At the discretion of the organizer, players may be selected from different 'pots' to form an overall league. This is to ensure a fair balance of abilities and avoid all of the (subjective) "best" players being placed together.
The games:
Regular season games will consist of a "best of 10" format
Regular season games will end when the first of either occurs:
Either player wins 6 legs
Both players have won 5 legs
Post-season games will be played to a winner
"best of 11" or "first to 6" format unless otherwise advised.
501, single in, double out is the only game played.
All games will "bull up" or "diddle for the middle" to determine who throws first in the first leg.
Subsequent legs will alternate between players to throw first.
"Bull up" in amateur format - strictly closest to the bull from one dart each unless agreed between players.
There is no requirement to follow PDC/DRA format of bull/25/outside.
Scoring:
Regular season games will be awarded points, based on the result of any given game:
3 points for a win
1 point for a tie
0 points for a loss
Sum of all earned points for the regular season will determine final league position, and any progression to post-season games.
In the event of two or more players are tied on points, league position will be determined (in order or priority) by:
Head-to-head
Leg difference (number of legs won, less number of legs lost)
Most legs won
Whomever had the highest out recorded for the season
In the event players remain tied after application of all above tiebreakers, both players will play one single leg of 501, following all other rules as outlined for the regular season, with the winner of the leg being recorded as the higher league finish.
Post-season games are played to a winner/elimination.
Arrange a mutually convenient time & location, between you & your opponent.
Contact information will be provided
Games should be completed by the end of the assigned game week ("GW")
Games MUST be completed by the end of the following game week

Any repeat offenders of incomplete games may be prohibited from joining future season(s) at the discretion of the organizer.
One "Free week" allowed between regular & post-season, to allow for catch up if needed

What happens if I am unable to complete my assigned games?
While we appreciate life happens, a smooth 'flow' of games is a necessity for a league like this.
Immediately, the impacted players will be assigned a 0-0 "tie" result for their game, with no 180s or High Outs recorded. This will likely impact overall league placement.
Depending on circumstances, and at the sole discretion of the organizer, the player(s) involved may be prohibited from joining any subsequent seasons.
Where can games be played?
There are no set rules for where a game can be played. Preference is certainly to get out, see people, support local businesses, etc. Venues* are listed on this site, but are not the only options.
Should both players agree to play elsewhere, this is permitted. "Elsewhere" can truly be anywhere.
*Okotoks 501 & the organizer assume no liability for any hazard, physical or otherwise as a result of the venue or the game of darts.
What happens to my entry fee?
Entry fees will be retained by the organizer &/or appointed representative and used to cover associated costs of prizes and payouts as posted. Payouts may consist of cash or equivalent (gift card, purchase of a product on behalf of the winner, etc).
Where do prizes come from?
From time to time, sponsors may be sourced for a given season, or perpetually associated with Okotoks 501. Benefits to the sponsors &/or players will vary depending on the agreement. Okotoks 501 endeavours to provide players with a mix of performance based prizes, and random draws.
How can I become a sponsor?
Sponsorship opportunities are available. Please contact the organizer to discuss specifics.
